Great Day for Ware -- 5 Hits
|
A jubilant Larry Ware joined the postgame press conference at Commodores Ballpark today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Washington Wild Things pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Sussex County Miners right fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led the Miners to a 12-5 win.
"He made it look easy," said Chad Bender, manager of the Wild Things. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Larry Ware singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Ware has a .348 average and a .380 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 79 hits, 6 home runs and driven in 40 runs.
