Jackels Suffer 6-2 Setback
|
It was a fun time at Ballpark of Ecatepec College, where the New Jersey Jackels and Trois-Rivieres Aigles tangled.
The Aigles had to overcome a fine performance from New Jersey pitcher Jordan Maupin to grab a 6-2 win at Ballpark of Ecatepec College. Maupin allowed 1 earned run over 5.2 innings. Trois-Rivieres reliever Jorge Davila got the win, raising his record to 3-1. Steve Smalley was tagged with the loss.
Had Phil Schropp not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Schropp hit a 2-run double. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Aigles.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Trois-Rivieres manager Sean Laster.
Trois-Rivieres, at 33-25, occupies third place in the Frontier League Frontier Division.
