Otters Curb Miners, 5-2

Evansville Otters starter Roger Spence turned in an exceptional performance against the Sussex County Miners at Rocketmen Ballpark, resulting in a Evansville win, 5-2. Spence went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-0. Picking up the save was Colton Guest, his 12th.
The Otters got a big boost from third baseman Matt McDonald who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Miners hurler Mike Brown. It was his 24th walk of the season and put Evansville on top, 1-0.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Spence told the Evansville Today.
The win puts the Otters at 26-23, while the Miners drop to 21-28.
