Crushers Turn Back New Jersey, 2-1
|
The New Jersey Jackels got a superb performance from pitcher Dave de la Torre. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Lake Erie. The Crushers won the game, 2-1. In spite of the loss, de la Torre was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball. The win was credited to Juan Torres in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Robby Peterson took the loss. Even with the win, the Crushers have a dismal 17-33 record.
Chris Ursillo, who is tied for 6th in the FL in triples with 3, helped out the Lake Erie cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the left fielder went 1-3 with a walk.
"I know we have our doubters," said New Jersey manager Ian Collins. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
