Game 5 was big. So was Justin Soule.

The Eureka starter rose to the occasion at Millennium Field, leading the Hornets to a crucial 3-1 victory over the Chicago Eclipse. Soule threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball as the Hornets won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Round 1.

Eureka used a well-timed hit by Mark Bradford to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Hornets ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Bradford.

Game 6 is scheduled for Saturday at The Nest in Eureka.
