Thoroughbreds Hammered by Valdez, Drop Game 3 to Blue Jays
Already down in the Divisional Series, the Toronto Blue Jays put on their best show, beating the Aiken Thoroughbreds by a final score of 8-7. Manuel Valdez was special. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Toronto now trails Aiken 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.

Batting in the bottom of the 11th, 24-year old shortstop Mike Shain had a real shot to win the game. Aiken pitcher Danny Carlos was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Shain hit a run-scoring single. The Blue Jays had a walk-off triumph.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Valdez said in his postgame press conference.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Exhibition Stadium in Fermont.
