Wilbur Wood(4-2) pitched a rare no-hitter as the Chicago (AL) Brewers toppled the New York (AL) Twins 12 to 0. Wood was just too much for New York (AL). He gave his hometown fans a game they'll never forget! He walked 2 New York (AL) batters. The tension started to build around the 6th inning. By the 9th inning the crowd was electrified. Chicago (AL) banged out 19 hits on the night. Jim Kaat(1-1) absorbed the loss. Wood was in a jubilant mood after the game. 'If I'd known I was going to throw a no hitter I would have gotten a haircut!' he said, much to the delight of the clubhouse gathering.
