The Traverse City Beach Bums got a strong performance from pitcher Marco Huerta, who stymied the Buffalo offense en route to a win, 7-2, at The Royal Grounds. The winner was Huerta. He threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Ben Molter. The 5th-place Beach Bums go to 29-45.
The Beach Bums got a big at-bat from designated hitter Carlos Reyna. For the game, Reyna was 1 for 5 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave Traverse City a 2-0 lead.
In comments to the Traverse City Observer, Reyna admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
