| Sakamoto Excels in Topeka West Win | The Topeka West Chargers topped the Norwich Navigators, 11-7, with third baseman Mitsuyoshi Sakamoto playing a big role. Sakamoto was 4-4 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Chargers in the win. Topeka West reliever Ricky Lopez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Lonnie Peet was saddled with the loss. The save was David Wedel's, his 1st.
Nolan Brown, who is tied for 2nd in the PRL in stolen bases with 8, aided the Topeka West cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth. For the game, the center fielder went 3 for 5 with a triple, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Sakamoto.
The Chargers, now 19-24, know that wins in April count the same as wins in September.
