| Tigers Lose, 14-4, at Ballpark of Morelia HS | Grand Island first baseman Dave Stieb Jr. had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Tenafly Tigers, 14-4. Dan Stamper earned the win to go to 6-2. He allowed 4 earned runs on 6 hits, with no walks and 11 strikeouts. The Islanders bumped their record to 23-19 with this latest triumph.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the fifth, with the game tied, Luis Alanis was at the plate when Grand Island scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Islanders to go in front, 5-4.
"I'm a bit of a clubhouse prankster," said Stieb Jr.. "But it's all business when we're on the field."
