The Derby Panthers scored a 6-5 win versus the George Washington Patriots at Managua HS Grounds. Derby designated hitter Chris Weissert nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Derby reliever Kyle Kellam picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-2. Ichiro Matheny was collared with the loss. Derby has now won 3 in a row.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Derby catcher Ryan Luffman, facing Ichiro Matheny, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Panthers the 6-5 win.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Luffman said after the game.
