| Marauders Bang Out 9-7 Win Versus San Francisco | The San Francisco Earthquakes got a superb performance from first baseman Jesús Castillo. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Maple. The Marauders won the game, 9-7. In spite of the loss, Castillo was named the player of the game. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Maple reliever Carl Bragg picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Steve Cherry was saddled with the loss. Minoru Aoki got the save, his 16th in 18 chances.
Had Alejandro Marés not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Marés hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Marauders.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Davey Morris said.
The Marauders, at 40-42, sit in 4th place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
