| Cardinals Prevail, 5-3, Over Francis Lewis | Francis Lewis got a terrific performance from pitcher Thurman Munson Jr., but it wasn't enough to beat the Montreal Cardinals. Montreal won the Nezahualcoyotl HS Grounds contest, 5-3. Munson Jr. was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. Montreal reliever Bryan Brown picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Tyler Morawski was saddled with the loss. The save was credited to Dan O'Brien, his 5th.
The Cardinals got a big at-bat from designated hitter Ed Bell. For the game, Bell went 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 34th hit of the season gave Montreal a 3-2 lead.
Bell called the triumph "a good team win."
