Tenafly withstood an impressive performance by Topeka West second baseman Dan Newkirk to defeat the Chargers, 8-6, at Ballpark of León HS. Newkirk was 4-4 with a triple and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Gil Pund got the win, improving to 1-4. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 9 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 10 and walking 0.
