| Poly Jolt Panthers with Late Rally | Pitman High got a terrific game from center fielder Bobby Lemke. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Riverside, 11-7. Lemke was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. The Panthers, now 11-20, have lost 6 in a row.
Had Jim Hartman not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Hartman hit a 2-run single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Poly.
"We'll savor this win," Hartman told the Riverside Bulletin, "then get ready for the next game."
