Golden Bears Score Late to Upend Lions, 12-11

Billings West center fielder Dan Ladner played a vital role in his team's 12-11 triumph over Lerna. He went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5 for Billings West. Billings West reliever Bobby Small picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Allen Belote was saddled with the loss. Greg Rose, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save.

Ladner contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Billings West in the top of the ninth. With his team trailing 11-8, Ladner took a fastball from Allen Belote and stroked the home run to left. His 7th home run of the season allowed the Golden Bears to leap in front, 12-11.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Billings West skipper Brian Neyman.

The Golden Bears, at 19-11, lead by one game in their division.
