| Patriots Top Tigers Behind Munson Jr., 6-1 | The Francis Lewis Patriots topped the Tenafly Tigers, 6-1, in Pete Rose League action at Ottawa HS Grounds. The player of the game was Francis Lewis pitcher Thurman Munson Jr.. Alan McEachern, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save. The Patriots bumped their record to 18-12 with this latest triumph.
The standout performance belonged to 17-year-old Munson Jr.. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Patriots. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Tigers, striking out 14 and scattering 7 hits over 8.1 innings. Munson Jr. is now 4-0 on the season.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Patriots manager Justin Easton, "I like our chances."
