Islanders Come Up Short at College

Swamp Foxes Stadium was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.

College Park starter Jeremy Steimel was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Grand Island Islanders, 2-1. Steimel, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks. Bobby Abarca locked down his 5th save.

Ed Barton helped out the College cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the third baseman went 1-2 with a hit by pitch.

Steimel said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.

The Park bumped their record to 16-14 with this latest triumph.
