| Vampires Continue Skid Thanks to Davis, Mustangs | Downsview and Santa Clara duked it out at Visigoths Stadium and the Mustangs came out victorious.
The Downsview Mustangs topped the Santa Clara Vampires, 5-4, in Pete Rose League action at Visigoths Stadium. The player of the game was Downsview first baseman Bob Davis. Downsview reliever Abraham Garcia picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Tommy Stoner was saddled with the loss.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when third baseman Steve Wright, who is tied for 5th in the PRL in doubles with 11, grounded out. The Mustangs went on to win.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Downsview manager Ralph Prince.
Downsview has now won 3 straight, while the Vampires have lost 5 in a row.
