| Lions Score Late, Top Golden Bears, 10-4 | Benefiting from Mark McGwire Jr.'s productive game, the Lerna Lions downed the Billings West Golden Bears, 10-4. McGwire Jr. was 2-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Lions. Lerna reliever James Wheaton picked up the win to move to 1-2. Spencer Dann suffered the loss. The Lions bumped their record to 15-14 with this latest triumph.
McGwire Jr. had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 0-1 curveball from Spencer Dann, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Lions a 5-4 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for McGwire Jr..
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," McGwire Jr. told reporters after the game.
