| Giants Stymie Chunichi, Take 2-1 Win | The Yomiuri Giants defeated the Chunichi Dragons, 2-1, in Central League action at Ballpark of Yamagata College, with Yomiuri pitcher Koji Yamamoto named player of the game. Seisaku Moriwaki was credited with the save for Yomiuri, his 5th of the season. Yomiuri bumps their record to 21-24 with the win.
Evan Durant went 2 for 4 with a double for Yomiuri. The 22-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off David Bailey. It was his 14th RBI of the season.
Yamamoto said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
