| Big Day by Hida Ignites Carp Win | Behind a solid performance from first baseman Junnosuke Hida, the Hiroshima Toyo Carp defeated the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, 9-2. Hida was 3-3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times for the Carp. Naoyuki Tamba, credited with the win, is now 3-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 5.1 innings. With the win, the Carp have a record of 13-11.
