| Kong Lifts Tigers to 16-5 Triumph | Behind a solid performance from shortstop Chong-chun Kong, the Hanshin Tigers defeated the Chunichi Dragons, 16-5. Kong went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5 for the Tigers. Hanshin, at 13-9, occupies second place in the Central Division.
Kong had a key at-bat for Hanshin early in the game. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and gave Hanshin an early 3-0 lead.
"Every win gets us closer to our ultimate goal," said Kong.
