Tokyo Yakult catcher John Lewis was sensational. He was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Chunichi beat the Swallows, 8-7. Lewis was named the player of the game despite the loss. Chunichi reliever Toshio Kaji picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Fumio Okada shouldered the loss. Kiyoshi Takahashi earned the save for Chunichi, his 2nd.

Eita Yamashiro, who is tied for 6th in the CL in extra base hits with 10, aided the Chunichi cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the second. For the game, the center fielder went 1 for 5, while adding 2 RBI.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Dragons manager Nick Murphy. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."

Chunichi has now won 4 straight, while the Swallows have lost 4 in a row.
