| Carp Win in Extras | Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Cuckoos Stadium.
The Yokohama Bay Stars got a superb performance from pitcher Mike Lund. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Hiroshima Toyo. The Carp won the game, 4-1. In spite of the loss, Lund was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Hiroshima Toyo reliever Jayden Palmer picked up the win to move to 1-1. Hiroki Dalton suffered the loss. Yo Takahashi closed it out for his 1st save.
The Carp got a big at-bat from catcher Jim Sumner. For the game, Sumner went 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the 11th, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Hiroshima Toyo a 4-1 lead.
Sumner called the win "a collective effort."
The Carp bumped their record to 11-10 with this latest triumph.
