| Tigers Throttle Carp, 6-1 | Hanshin third baseman Billy Skaling was a significant contributor in his team's 6-1 triumph over the Hiroshima Toyo Carp. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs for Hanshin. Hanshin reliever Tony Ornelas picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Shoji Omori shouldered the loss. Hiroshima Toyo has now lost 4 straight.
Skaling had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-2 fastball from Shoji Omori, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Skaling.
