Giants Turn Back Tokyo Yakult, 5-3

The Yomiuri Giants defeated the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, 5-3, in Central League action at Ballpark of Yamagata College, with Yomiuri right fielder Rickey De Angelis named player of the game. Yomiuri reliever Ryuya Takemiya got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Bryan Cloutman was tagged with the loss. Bill Brewer earned the save, his 2nd.

Muneyoshi Nakamura, who is rated as the 99th best prospect by BNN, aided the Yomiuri cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman was 1 for 3.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Nakamura told a Yomiuri Herald reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."

The Swallows fall to 3-7 and continue their wobbly start to the 2038 season.
