| Late Rally by Tigers Secures Win | The Tokyo Yakult Swallows got a superb performance from center fielder Russ Babcock. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Hanshin. The Tigers won the game, 8-7. In spite of the loss, Babcock was named the player of the game. He went 3-4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. At 2-1, the Tigers have played well so far.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Hanshin pinch hitter Jason Meyer, facing Josh Lewis, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Tigers the 8-7 win.
"Put a star next to this win," Meyer said.
