Victory Over Earthquakes Takes Portland to 52-30

Portland and San Francisco duked it out at Golden Gate Park and the Beavers came out victorious.

The Portland Beavers powered past the San Francisco Earthquakes, 9-6, at Golden Gate Park. Zane Mogeni was 3-5 with a triple and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3, to lead the charge. Yoshiaki Kojima, credited with the win, is now 8-8. He allowed 6 runs on 10 hits in 5 innings. Quan Que got the save, his 20th in 23 chances.

With Portland leading 2-0 in the top of the fourth, Mogeni hit a cutter from Lloyd Huggins for a bases-clearing triple. It was his 2nd triple of the season and put the Beavers ahead, 5-0.

In postgame comments to the Portland Times, Mogeni said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

The Beavers own a robust 52-30 mark.
