| Late Rally by Giants Secures Win | The Yomiuri Giants defeated the Hiroshima Toyo Carp, 4-2, at Ballpark of Yamagata College. Yomiuri right fielder Suk-jin Pak was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Reliever Elijah Hall picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Pong-su Ann took the loss. Picking up the save was Bill Brewer, his 1st.
The Giants got a big at-bat from second baseman Kenta Tanishige. For the game, Tanishige was 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 3rd hit of the season gave Yomiuri a 4-2 lead.
Pak called the win "a collective effort."
Yomiuri, now 1-2, is off to a slow start.
