Bay Stars Prevail, 10-9, Over Chunichi

The Chunichi Dragons got a superb performance from third baseman Gyousei Yamane. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Yokohama. The Bay Stars won the game, 10-9. In spite of the loss, Yamane was named the player of the game. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Picking up the save was Satoshi Kawaguchi, his 1st. Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Bay Stars hope to make a postseason run.

The Bay Stars got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Ryu Kamimura. For the game, Kamimura went 1 for 1 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the seventh, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Yokohama a 10-9 lead.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Kamimura told a Yokohama Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
