| Buffaloes Get Close Win Over Fighters | The Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters got a sterling performance from pitcher Josh Olson, but the Buffaloes still prevailed, 5-4. Olson was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball. Jobst Lange got credit for the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Wu-jiang Qin was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 4 save opportunities.
The Buffaloes got a big at-bat from shortstop Mike Roach. For the game, Roach went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. In the top of the eighth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 15th home run of the season gave ORIX a 5-4 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Roach told the ORIX Today.
The first-place Buffaloes have a one-game lead in their division.
