| Fighters Get Past ORIX for 6-5 Win | The Fighters faced a stiff challenge from ORIX pitcher Hachemon Hitomi, but persevered to claim a win at Ballpark of Hakui College. The final score was 6-5. Hitomi went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Hokkaido Nippon-Ham reliever Will Wence was credited with the win, to go to 3-3. Dave MacDougall took the loss for ORIX. Kai-ge Ching converted his 12th save in 12 tries.
Had Dylan Hunter not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Hunter hit a 2-run double. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Fighters.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said ORIX manager Steve Richards. "The effort was great."
The Fighters bumped their record to 32-26 with this latest triumph.
