| Marines Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras | The Chiba Lotte Marines did just enough to sneak past the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, 6-5, at Ballpark of Hakui College. Chiba Lotte pitcher Branden Dulin earned player of the game honors. Chiba Lotte reliever Chuji Osaki was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Steve Girard. Kane Moulds converted his 1st save in 1 tries.
Late-game drama came in the top of the tenth inning. With no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the batter, Yin-xiang Xuan, hit a single. It helped Chiba Lotte seize the win.
When asked about his performance after the game, Xuan said: "Like everyone else, I'm just doing my job."
The Marines bumped their record to 29-27 with this latest triumph.
