| Hawks Bang Out 9-0 Win Versus Hokkaido Nippon-Ham | The Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks topped the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters by the score of 9-0, with the biggest share of the credit going to catcher Chutaro Tsuchiya. Tsuchiya was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Hawks on the day. Fukuoka SoftBank reliever Tim Hedrick picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Fei-hsien Xun was saddled with the loss. The Hawks bumped their record to 26-25 with this latest triumph.
Tsuchiya had a key at-bat for Fukuoka SoftBank early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and gave Fukuoka SoftBank an early 2-0 lead.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Fukuoka SoftBank manager Allen Cummings.
