| Fighters Clip Hawks in Tight Contest | Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters starter Josh Olson was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, 7-5. Hokkaido Nippon-Ham reliever Steve Girard was credited with the win, to go to 3-1. Takashi Saiki took the loss for Fukuoka SoftBank. Kai-ge Ching sewed up the save, his 11th.
The Fighters got a big at-bat from third baseman Kevin Bradley. For the game, Bradley was 2-4 with a double and a walk. In the top of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 37th hit of the season gave Hokkaido Nippon-Ham a 4-3 lead.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Bradley told the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Gazette.
The 4th-place Hawks have dropped 5 straight games.
