| Lions Continue Skid Thanks to Otsuji, Marines | The Chiba Lotte Marines beat the Saitama Seibu Lions, 8-3, at Ballpark of Nasu College. Chiba Lotte center fielder Shintaro Otsuji earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Yoshitora Fujita picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. John Moore was tagged with the loss. Saitama Seibu's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
Takaaki Bailey, who is tied for 7th in the PL in doubles with 6, aided the Chiba Lotte cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the third baseman was 2 for 4 with a double.
