| Hawks Nip Lions, 7-6 | Dakota Medwid had a good game, but he could not keep the Saitama Seibu Lions from falling, 7-6, to the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks at Ballpark of Aomori College. The Saitama Seibu shortstop went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once in the loss. The Hawks bumped their record to 15-11 with this latest triumph.
Had Takahiro Nakano not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Nakano hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Hawks.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Nakano said.
