| Victory Pushes Marines Record to 8-6 | The Chiba Lotte Marines got a stellar performance from pitcher Norio Ogawa, who handcuffed the Saitama Seibu offense en route to a 4-1 win at Field of the Chariots. Mikihiro Nakagawa earned the save for Chiba Lotte, his 1st. Chiba Lotte is 8-6 and Saitama Seibu, with the loss, 8-6.
Chiba Lotte used the timely hitting of Shintaro Otsuji to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Marines on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments, Otsuji told the Chiba Lotte Citizen: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
