| Lions Edge Past Hawks, 8-7 | Saitama Seibu beat Fukuoka SoftBank at Field of the Chariots, eking out a 8-7 win. The win was due in large part to third baseman Andy Critch, who earned player of the game honors. Kenjyu Kato finished the game for Saitama Seibu and earned his 5th save. The Hawks drop to 6-6 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2038 season.
Masanori Sugai went 2 for 4 with 2 singles for Saitama Seibu. The 19-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 7-7 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Takashi Saiki. It was his 10th RBI of the season.
"We maximized our offense today," said Saitama Seibu skipper Jim Hill. "That makes everyone's life easier."
