| Monroy Goes Off, But Lions Win | Downsview got a terrific game from second baseman Manny Monroy. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Lerna, 12-4. Monroy was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Je-won Lim earned the win for Lerna. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 11 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 5-0. The Lions bumped their record to 14-13 with this latest triumph.
The Lions got a big at-bat from second baseman David Nawrocki. For the game, Nawrocki went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 11th hit of the season gave Lerna a 4-3 lead.
"What we get, we earn," Nawrocki told the Lerna Daily News.
