Conditions were not ideal but Santa Clara and Tioga Central were able to put their game in the books.

With shortstop Elliott Perry leading the charge, the Santa Clara Vampires defeated the Tioga Central Tigers, 4-3, at River Otters Ballpark. Perry, who is tied for 9th in the PRL in doubles with 8, went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. John Arnold got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. Mike Holmes earned the save for Santa Clara, his 6th of the year.

Perry had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a 0-2 slider from Josh Caldwell, he banged a run-scoring double to left-center, giving the Vampires a 4-3 lead. It was the 8th double of the year for Perry.

In postgame comments to the Santa Clara Daily, Perry said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

The Vampires bumped their record to 13-12 with this latest triumph.
