| Panthers Lose, 2-1, at Ottawa HS Grounds | The Francis Lewis Patriots picked up a win at Ottawa HS Grounds, knocking off the Derby Panthers, 2-1. Starting pitcher Mario Guerra, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Guerra got the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 6 hits and walked 2 over 7.2 innings. Guerra allowed 1 earned run. The Patriots bumped their record to 13-11 with this latest triumph.
The Patriots got a big at-bat from right fielder Phil Pelham. For the game, Pelham was 1 for 4. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 25th hit of the season gave Francis Lewis a 2-1 lead.
"We had a good game plan," Guerra said, "and we were able to execute it."
