| Tight Tilt Goes to Poly, 3-2 | The Riverside Poly picked up a win at Ballpark of Monterrey HS, knocking off the Jefferson Indians, 3-2. Starting pitcher Boog Powell Jr., who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Matt Poling picked up the save for Riverside, his 5th of the year. The Poly bumped their record to 12-12 with this latest triumph.
Bill Groves drew 1 walk. He drove in 2 runs for Riverside. The 16-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off John Bailey. It was his 14th walk of the season.
"I had a good game plan," said Powell Jr.. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," Gary Corwin said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
