| Patriots Turn Back Norwich, 6-4 | George Washington second baseman George Lazenby made his presence felt in the 6-4 Patriots triumph over the Norwich Navigators. Lazenby went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Tim Norman got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in 5.1 innings. Ichiro Matheny earned save number 7.
When the Patriots needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Lazenby who delivered. Facing Norwich pitcher Steve Brinkley the top of the sixth with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Lazenby hit his 2nd home run of the year. It made the score 6-0.
"If we play well, we'll win our share of games," said Lazenby. "The only team that can beat us is us."
George Washington is now 16-5, 4½ games up in the Pete Rose League Roger Clemens Division.
