Brown Stars in Cardinals Win

With third baseman Nick Brown leading the charge, the Montreal Cardinals defeated the Grand Island Islanders, 12-9, at Nezahualcoyotl HS Grounds. Brown, who is tied for 8th in the PRL in doubles with 6, went 4-4 with a home run, 3 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 6. Bryan Brown got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.2 innings. Dan O'Brien got the save, the 3rd for him this season.

Brown had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-0 fastball from Matt Johnson, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Cardinals a 12-9 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Brown.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Hector Corretjer.

Even with the win, the Cardinals have a dismal 4-14 record.
