Wier Delivers Walk-Off Win for Patriots

The George Washington Patriots electrified the home crowd at Osprey Ballpark with a walk-off win.

Craig Graham helped his team muscle past the Topeka West Chargers, 9-8. In the game, the George Washington catcher was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Ichiro Matheny picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Kevin Gurski was tagged with the loss.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when George Washington third baseman Andy Wier, facing Kevin Gurski, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Patriots the 9-8 win.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Graham said.

The first-place Patriots have won 4 in a row.
