| Lancers Jolt Tigers with Late Rally | The Canby Lancers turned back the Tenafly Tigers, 5-4, at Ballpark of Villahermosa HS. Alfredo Castro was named player of the game for his fine performance. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Canby reliever Tyler Grover picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Calvin Earle was saddled with the loss. Curtis Breshears closed the game out for Canby, earning his 1st save.
Castro had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from Calvin Earle, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Lancers a 5-4 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Castro.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Tenafly manager Jim Branch.
Tenafly, at 3-9, is off to a poor start in 2038.
