Patriots Roll to 8-2 Win Over Cardinals

Fans at Ottawa HS Grounds were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Francis Lewis Patriots take on the Montreal Cardinals.

Francis Lewis Patriots starter Steve Sobecki was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Montreal Cardinals, 8-2. Sobecki, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run.

Francisco Morales aided the Francis Lewis cause with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Sobecki said.

The Cardinals, now 2-10, continue their poor start.
