| Patriots Solve Vampires, 6-2 | George Washington Patriots starter Ricky Desoto was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Santa Clara Vampires, 6-2. Desoto, now 2-0, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 8, walking 4, and allowing 2 earned runs. Ichiro Matheny earned the save for George Washington, his 4th of the year.
Kevin Roberts's at-bat in the top of the fourth inning was a big one for George Washington. Coming to bat with two out, the bases loaded and George Washington leading 2-0, the designated hitter reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 2 runs.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said George Washington manager Frank Robles.
